Here's a scene from my original home country, South Africa. Although this is from the Cape Province, far from where I was born. I've always loved these little white, thatched roofed cottages that dot the coast. And this is one of the richest areas in the world for plant diversity.

The low growing, coastal fynbos is our focus for this lesson. How to capture all the colour and texture and the clumps of growth in a free and natural way, without outlining each shrub and then painting within the lines. Painting within the lines would lead to such a static painting!
