Pink meadow

Step-by-Step - Level ◆◆◆
I've been driving past the most glorious fields lately — the farmers around here have been planting sainfoin (that's the name of the pink flower — it's an alternative to lucerne or alfalfa) and honestly, pink being my favourite colour, I couldn't resist any longer. So a few days ago, when I needed to head into town for some errands, I took my big camera along and stopped to photograph one of these fields.
With proper spring well and truly here, and flowers everywhere you look, it just feels joyous to grab the pinks and pastel greens and go for it.
I wanted to do something a little different with this painting — rather than working entirely within a taped border, I've let some of the foreground flowers escape out of the bottom edge, which gives the whole thing a lovely free feeling. Behind the flowers, an old ruined barn makes our focal point, and the idea is that you feel the whole field stretching out beyond what you can see. A joyful spring scene — let's get into it.
Happy painting!
