There's something so painterly about old weathered fence posts half-swallowed by summer wildflowers — that combination of the rough and the delicate, the man-made and the wild.

It may be a small painting, but it covers a lot of ground: wet-into-wet skies, dry brushing for texture, masking, grasses, poppies, and the all-important shadow step that makes everything suddenly make sense.

Plus there's lots of vibrant colour :-)
