Five different watercolour skies
28 September 2022
Video - Level ◆◆◆
In this lesson we going to paint five different watercolour skies - a summer sky with puffy clouds, a stormy sky, a cirrus sky, a sunrise and a night sky with the milky way.
It is worth doing all of this skies multiple times. Each time you paint one it will come out a little different, and this process can make painting skies a little bit addictive. Which is a good thing! Because painting skies is a wonderful way to learn how to control watercolour. Plus, each sky doesn't take long - 10 to 15 minutes each.
Working through this lesson
I've organised this video starting with the easiest sky first and progressing to the harder ones. So my suggestion would be to start at the beginning. However, if you're already familiar with one of the skies, then you could fast forward to one that is new to you.
Every time you paint a sky it will be different. And you shouldn't expect to be able to replicate one of mine exactly. This video is more about giving you some tip and tricks, and rules and skills, so that your skies can be more realistic and so that you have the confidence to try a range of different skies.
