Old church in Siurana, Spain

In this lesson we are going to paint the Romanesque style church that is in the tiny village of Siurana, Catalunya, Spain.

Siurana is one of our favourite places in the world. It's long and interesting history (both Christian and Moorish) mean there's plenty of wonderful architecture to paint. It sits precariously on this rock peninsula, which was perfect for defending in ancient times and now provides a fantastic location for rock climbing.

I took this reference photo one evening while walking along the tops of the cliffs. The late evening light makes it a perfect sketching subject.
