Botanical painting : periwinkles
12 October 2022
Video - Level ◆◆◆
Let's do a botanical type painting of some very pretty periwinkles. We'll paint a full flower, a half bloom and a bud surrounded by lush, green leaves.
In this lesson cover painting wet in wet, glazing, charging in of colours and lifting out colour. I'll show you how to mix colours to match the flowers and leaves and how to paint realistic petals and leaves.
Painting flowers is a slow and meditative process. There are many subtle layers of colour and lots of tiny details. Give yourself lots of time to work through this lesson. And you don't have to get it right first go! There's no problem in doing a painting a few times, until you get it right.
Happy painting!
