sketching retreat in spain : sept 2027

My first watercolour retreat in Spain — Cabo de Gata, September 2027

Four years ago I moved to Spain. I've been painting here ever since — and quietly planning the day I could share it with you.

That day is almost here. In September 2027 I'm leading my first watercolour painting retreat in Spain, and the location could not be more inspiring. I think I've found the perfect place!

Cabo de Gata, Andalusia

Cabo de Gata is one of Europe's best-kept secrets — a natural park of volcanic cliffs dropping into turquoise water, whitewashed villages, wild palms and agave against a cloudless sky. The desert light here turns extraordinary in the late afternoon. It is unlike anywhere else on the continent, and you are going to paint all of it.

Our base is a private Andalusian finca inside the Cabo de Gata Natural Park, reserved entirely for our group. A private chef, dedicated studio spaces, and a landscape that never stops offering something worth sketching. The retreat is organised by Uptrek, who take care of every last detail — so all you have to think about is painting.

A week of watercolour painting in southern Spain

This is a small group watercolour retreat — personal tuition every day, painting on location, and the kind of week that fills a sketchbook and stays with you long after you get home. All levels welcome.

Where: Cabo de Gata, Almería, Spain When: 6 – 13 September 2027
