painting a norwegian winter scene in watercolour
Let's travel to Norway
Happy New Year, everyone — here’s to a creative, joy-filled 2026!
Let’s start the year with something beautifully calm and a little bit chilly: a peaceful winter lakeside scene. You may want to be somewhere cosy while you paint this one!
In this new Patreon watercolour tutorial (about an hour long), we work step by step through:
-
soft winter greys and subtle colour mixing
-
the warm pop of the little boathouse
-
glassy water and reflections
-
those magical snow splatters that finish the scene
It’s not a complicated painting, but spending a few minutes on the drawing makes a big difference. Getting the angles and proportions right helps everything fall into place once the paint goes down.
And remember — you’re always welcome to trace my drawing if you want to focus on the painting itself. There are no fun police here!
If you’d like to paint along with me, you can find the full video, reference photo, drawing, and step-by-step guidance on Patreon.
